:- Surrounded by an environment that is both urban and wild, the University of Alaska Anchorage is a gateway to innovative thinking, learning and exploration. UAA is the state’s largest university, situated at the heart of the state's largest city, with satellites in Homer, Kodiak, Soldotna, Valdez and Mat-Su. UAA students experience hands-on education, in and out of the classroom.

Offerings

Programs include associate, baccalaureate, master's and doctoral degrees, as well as vocational and professional certificates. UAA served 19,064 students in spring semester 2015.

UAA is a public university committed to serving students and the state of Alaska. It is home to centers and institutes in a variety of specialized fields, including environmental and natural resources, alcohol and addictions studies, economic education, circumpolar health studies, rural health, human development, social and economic research, justice, biomedicine (WWAMI School of Medical Education), community engagement and learning, faculty excellence, economic and small business development, logistics and supply chain integration, psychological services, education policy and Chinese culture.

Arctic engagement

UAA faculty and students live and work in the only Arctic state in the United States. As such, scholars seek to leverage Alaska's position as the "gateway to the Arctic" in order to broaden understanding of Arctic issues among citizens, policymakers and colleagues at the local, state, national and international level.
